Honoring the 50th Anniversary at St. Anselm's Church

St. Anselm's Vancouver: Footprints

It is with great joy that I share this brief description of honoring the 50th Anniversary of PWRDF that took place at St. Anselm's Church in Vancouver (photos). The event was incorporated with the 'Reign of Christ' Sunday (23rd November, 2008). The Sunday school children sang 2 songs before they went away to their activities that related to PWRDF- 'A Foot Print'. " I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me drink....' Matt. 25:35, a part of the second lesson was used to convey the story of the beginnings of PWRDF, focusing on the fact that this venture is a Canadian Anglican response to an internal disaster. An awareness was brought of our past work going on to our future aspirations & hopes. During the Prayers of the People, everyone joined in the PWRDF 50th Anniversary Prayer. The choir sang Pachelbel's "Canon Of Peace" and during the communion, a University of BC tudent, Geoff Martin sang 'Somewhere over the rainbow', accompanying himself on his guitar. To conclude the service, the congregation went up to the sanctuary to sing 'Amazing Grace'.

A chili & salad lunch with a huge Anniversary cake was served with the entire monies going for PWRDF. At the lunch, along with the PWRDF table mats, a foot-print cut-out was placed for the members to write their names, while a reading was done to bring awareness to our carbon foot prints & stewardship of Earth. The foot prints were then combined with the art work of the Sunday school children to create a huge mural of "SUN". Two PWRDF tote bags were given in random selection which brought an atmosphere of joy & humour.

May God continue to bless us as we bring our meager offerings while we journey along this life-altering path.

Blessings,
