Diocese of Niagara Celebrates 50 Years of PWRDF
On the last Saturday in September, Anglicans from across the diocese of Niagara joined together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund at St John’s, Ancaster. Bishop Michael Bird presided over the liturgy which included wonderful music by the St. Christopher’s Guitar Group, and stories of PWRDF partners. Following the service, Julie Crochetière’s beautiful voice filled the sanctuary as she performed three songs from her CD “A Better Place” including the title track which is featured on the One Voice CD.
Before and after the service, the world market was open with something for everyone – crafts, jewelry hand made by Karima from Afghanistan, PWRDF One Voice CDs, Christmas cards, African dolls crafted by Maureen Wells, Diocesan Fair Trade initiatives of “The Primate’s Blend” coffee and “Just Desserts” chocolates, and much more. Participants enjoyed foods from around the world – fried plantain, samosas, and tropical fruits, to name a few. PWRDF staff and board members shared partner stories and photos from their travels.
PWRDF is grateful to all of the members of the PWRDF diocesan committee and members of St. John’s Anglican Church in Ancaster for planning such a marvelous occasion to celebrate the work of PWRDF in the world.
