50th Anniversary Hymn Contest
The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund announces:
The PWRDF 50th Anniversary Hymn Competition!
Help us commemorate our 50th anniversary year by writing a hymn celebrating the ministry of PWRDF in the world. The winning entry will be used in parishes across Canada during the 50th anniversary celebrations and beyond.
Hymn contest rules:
There will be two sets of criteria for judging entries. These will be of equal weight and the winning entry will be required to attain a minimum standard in both.
Thematic:
- The content should be relevant to and expressive of the ministry of PWRDF
- Suitable for a celebration which looks both to past achievement and to future call
- Theologically rich, in a way which is consistent with the faith and practice of the Anglican Church of Canada
Stylistic:
- The text must be appropriate for singing to the hymn tune ARFON in one of its variants - major or minor, note different meters in /Common Praise/ 44, 391, 603
- Accessible to a wide variety of congregations
- Engaging enough to be singable on more than one occasion!
Submissions must be received by June 1 2009.
The winner will receive $500.00 in prize money!
